Mounds View City Council Page Four <br /> • Regular Meeting April 11, 1994 <br /> MOTION/SECOND: Blanchard/Wuori to Waive the Reading and Formally <br /> Introduce Ordinance No. 536 Amending Chapter 401, "Planning and <br /> Zoning Commission" <br /> Mayor Linke commented that the changes made are items that the <br /> Council had previously discussed. <br /> VOTE: 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br /> D. Consideration of Resolution No. 4540 Authorizing a Position <br /> Reclassification and 5 Step Compensation Plan for the Planning <br /> Technician <br /> Samantha Orduno, City Administrator, explained that when the former <br /> Public Works Director left last year to continue his education, the <br /> City divided his position duties and responsibilities between two <br /> positions: Public Works Supervisor and the Planning Technician. <br /> Orduno reported that it was explained to both individuals that their <br /> positions would be re-evaluated in the Spring and an evaluation of <br /> the new position reclassification considered based on the <br /> organizational structure. Orduno further reported that since last <br /> Spring the Planning Technician has assumed responsibilities for <br /> general planning, inspections, engineering, recycling and code <br /> enforcement. Orduno stated that the responsibility for coordinating <br /> the new housing stock analysis was added this year. <br /> Orduno reported that the Planning Technician, in supervising the <br /> department's employees and activities over the past year, has <br /> exhibited leadership and managerial abilities that are consistent <br /> with that of the first in command of a multi-functional department. <br /> Orduno stated that the Planning Technician has undertaken many very <br /> difficult and multi-faceted responsibilities and has done a <br /> remarkable job. <br /> Mayor Linke- stated that he concu-rr-ed who-l-ehea-r-ted-l-y with—the <br /> recommendation of reclassification for this position. <br /> Councilmember Trude stated that she was a liaison to the Planning <br /> Commission and worked with Paul. Trude stated that he handled <br /> situations with a calm demeanor and always gave the residents full <br /> consideration. She also noted she had heard compliments from Focus <br /> 2000 Project Team members who enjoyed working with Paul. <br /> MOTION/SECOND: Trude/ Blanchard to Adopt Resolution 4540 <br /> Authorizing a Position Reclassification and 5 Step Compensation Plan <br /> for the Planning Technician <br /> VOTE: 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br /> S <br />
