0 Mounds View City Council Page Ten <br /> Regular Meeting April 25, 1994 <br /> Councilmember Trude stated that there are 18 persons in the audience <br /> who came to the meeting concerned about the compost center. <br /> Councilmember Blanchard stated that the Council should take no <br /> action tonight. The City should look into and work with Ramsey <br /> County on finding an alternative site. Blanchard stated that the <br /> City should work diligently in catching those persons who are <br /> dumping illegally. <br /> Councilmember Blanchard introduced an advertisement that was in <br /> the Bulletin for a firm that takes construction type wastes. <br /> Blanchard stated that there is a charge, but it provides an <br /> opportunity for citizens to get rid of those types of items rather <br /> than dumping them in the park. <br /> Mayor Linke stated again that the Council's intent is not to close <br /> the compost site, but to relocate it to an alternative site. <br /> MOTION/SECOND: Trude/Blanchard to Not Close the Compost Site <br /> Unless a Viable Alternative Was Found for the Citizens of Mounds <br /> View <br /> 410 VOTE: 4 ayes 1 nay Motion Carried <br /> Councilmember Quick stated that Ramsey County is not living up to <br /> the expectations that were told to Mounds View. Ramsey County has <br /> had the site for a number of years and was to be only a temporary <br /> site. Quick stated that he is willing to sit down with the County <br /> Commissioner and Zach Hanson but don't hold up a lot of hope. <br /> Councilmember Trude stated that the County has done what has been <br /> asked of themwith regard to the site. Zach Hanson was more than <br /> cooperative. Illegal dumping is something that could happen in all <br /> parts of town especially as the cost of trash removal goes up. that <br /> there aremo-r-e—ovti©ns need-ed. - - <br /> Councilmember Blanchard said that this happens in all City parks. <br /> Councilmember Quick stated that the City of Mounds View does not <br /> have the money to keep paying the $4 , 000 to clean up the compost <br /> site. Councilmember Quick stated that the people say cut in November <br /> when the taxes were raised - now they say spend and in a few <br /> months they will say cut again. <br /> Councilmember Trude stated that weighing priorities is the City <br /> Council's job. <br /> • <br />
