Mounds View City Council Page Seven <br /> 0 Regular Meeting May 9, 1994 <br /> MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Blanchard to Approve the Purchase of Two <br /> Ford Tauruses from Midway Ford Equipped with City Communication <br /> Radios for $28 , 576 . 34 to be Funded from Account 100-4260-703 with a <br /> Transfer of that Amount from Account No. 100-2606 (fund balance <br /> designated for ensuing year's budget) to Account 100-4260-703 <br /> VOTE: 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br /> D. Consideration of Adoption of Resolution No. 4558 , Hiring of Golf <br /> Course Superintendent <br /> Tim Cruikshank, Assistant to the City Administrator, presented a <br /> brief outline of the qualifications needed for the Golf Course <br /> Superintendent position. Cruikshank reported that seven candidates <br /> were chosen to interview. The candidates were interviewed by the <br /> interview panel on May 4 . The interview panel recommends the hiring <br /> of Kurt Johnson. Cruikshank noted that Mr. Johnson met all of the <br /> requirements of the position and has an excellent work history which <br /> indicates he can perform the duties and responsibilities of the <br /> position. <br /> Councilmember Trude asked if Mr. Johnson had a strong financial <br /> background. <br /> Samantha Orduno, City Administrator, explained that Mr. Johnson had <br /> worked in Brooklyn Park with the Park and Recreation Director and <br /> City Manager as a key player and, therefore, had worked with the <br /> financial aspects of the golf course. Orduno further explained that <br /> Mr. Johnson had taken their golf course from bare ground to a <br /> successful endeavor. <br /> Orduno stated that she was on the interview panel for this position <br /> and all the candidates were good. The candidates all seemed to have <br /> their strong areas of expertise in one area or another, but Mr. <br /> Johnsonseemed strong--inal.l_aspectsof—the position. <br /> Cruikshank stated that Mr. Johnson has a Bachelor's Degree in Park <br /> and Recreation from the University of Minnesota. <br /> Councilmember Blanchard commented that Mr. Johnson would be starting <br /> May 23 . Blanchard asked when the preliminary layout would begin. <br /> Orduno responded stating that three T's are almost ready. <br /> Bill Frits, 8072 Long Lake Road, asked if this would be a six or <br /> twelve month position for $40, 000 and what would this superintendent <br /> be responsible for in the winter. <br /> • Orduno explained that it would be a twelve month position.
