Consideration and Formal Introduction of Ordinance No. 540
Prohibiting Parking on Bronson Drive Between Edgewood Drive and
Jackson Drive
Paul Harrington, Community Development Coordinator, stated that
a request was brought to the Council at the April 4 , 1994 , Work
Session by a resident at 7504 Greenfield Avenue regarding the
possibility of imposing further on-street parking restrictions on
the streets surrounding his property.
Harrington stated that the request was the result of people in the
neighborhood experiencing loud and obnoxious behavior, littering,
parking on lawns and public urination on property by the patrons of
the Bel-Rae Ballroom.
Harrington explained that staff was directed to contact the property
owners who would be directly affected by a ban on parking on Bronson
Drive between Edgewood and Jackson Drives. Harrington stated that
he could not reach one property owner, but he did reach the owners
of the Bel-Rae who stated they have no problem with no parking on
the north side of Bronson. Harrington stated that he spoke to the
manager of the apartment complex to the east of Greenfield Avenue.
The manager indicated that if a large snowfall occurs, the tenants
need to move the cars to the road while the lot is being plowed.
Unknown resident, 7505 Edgewood Drive, stated that the parking north
of Bronson is a problem in that people have driven all the way up on
his lawn. The people don't block the driveway. The property owner
stated that he just has given up taking care of the boulevard area
because of the people parking there.
