Consideration of Approval to Enter Into a Lease Agreement with
Pitney Bowes for a Postal Machine
Tim Cruikshank, Assistant to the City Administrator, reported that
the present Pitney Bowes postage machine is worn and has grown
obsolete. Cruikshank stated that a new machine is proposed, similar
to the old machine, but without some of the problems of the existing
machine. The new machine could be leased for approximately $1, 100
per quarter vs. the old machine at $900 per quarter. Cruikshank
stated that the length of the lease would be 51 months with an
option to by out the system for $1 at the end of the lease.
Cruikshank noted that other vendors were contacted, but none were
competitive with Pitney Bowe's pricing and quality of equipment.
Mayor Linke stated that Kraus Anderson was looking at the same piece
of equipment and seemed to be receiving a better rate. Mayor Linke
suggested that Council authorize staff to check into the rates and
then enter into a lease agreement with Pitney Bowes for 51 month
lease of postage machine not to exceed $1, 100 per quarter.
MOTION/SECOND: To Authorize Staff to Enter into a Lease Agreement
with Pitney Bowes for a 51 Month Lease of Postage Machine not to
Exceed $1 , 100 per Quarter
VOTE: 4 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried
G. Consideration of Resolution No. 4592 Requesting Ramsey County to
Proceed Expeditiously with the Reconstruction of Old Highway 8 and
County Road H
Samantha Orduno, City Administrator, reported that per Council
direction staff has prepared Resolution No. 4592 which requests that
Ramsey County proceed as expeditiously as possible to reconstruct
Old Highway 8 and County Road H.
Mike Ulrich, Director of Public Works, reported that he had spoken
this week with a representative from Ramsey County regarding the Old
Highway 8 realignment. Ulrich reported that because this road is in
the City of Mounds View, it falls within the County's cost
participation program whereby if the City desires improvements such
as curb and gutter, sidewalks, and storm sewer, the City would be
responsible for those related costs .
Richard Gerlach, 2200 Kingsway Lane, stated that this is a very
dangerous intersection and it is very difficult to get out onto
Highway 10 from Old Highway 8 . Gerlach commented that this road is
heavily driven and would like to see alignment done as soon as
possible.
•
