Mounds View City Council Page Sixr <br /> 0 Regular Meeting September 26, 1994 <br /> Councilmember Blanchard asked if SCORE grant funds would not become <br /> available in 1995, would the position cease to exist? <br /> Cruikshank responded that it would cease to exist. <br /> Harrington reported that the City received $25,500 for salaries, <br /> recycling and brochures last year. <br /> Councilmember Quick stated that he would like this item <br /> tabled to the October 3, 1994, Work Session for further discussion. <br /> MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Blanchard to Table Resolution No. 4637 <br /> Creating a Recycling Intern Position <br /> VOTE: 4 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br /> F. Consideration of Resolution No. 4641 Requesting Ramsey County to <br /> Pursue the Feasibility of a School Speed Zone on County Road I <br /> Tim Cruikshank, Assistant to the City Administrator, reported that <br /> • Resolution No. 4641 proposes that Ramsey County pursue the <br /> feasibility of installing signage that would reduce the speed limit <br /> in this area, add signage to warn motorists they are in a school <br /> zone and also change County Road I from a 4 lane highway to a 2 lane <br /> street with a center turn lane. Cruikshank stated that the City <br /> would like Ramsey County to implement these requests to create a <br /> safe school zone for children who attend Pinewood School and will <br /> work cooperatively with the County to achieve these goals. <br /> Mayor Linke stated that the idea to make County Road I a 2 lane with <br /> a center lane was his idea. Linke stated that he has seen this type <br /> roadway elsewhere and it works very well and is much safer. <br /> Councilmember Wuori indicated that she will be attending a meeting <br /> at Pinewood School to represent the City in this issue. Wuori <br /> stated that the PTA has made the request that this issue be studied. <br /> The County, school and PTA will have representatives in attendance <br /> to discuss the possibility. Wuori stated that she is amazed that <br /> the City has to prove that a school zone is needed in an area where <br /> there is a school. <br /> MOTION/SECOND: Linke/Wuori to Adopt Resolution No. 4641 Requesting <br /> Ramsey County to Pursue the Feasibility of a School Speed Zone on <br /> County Road I <br /> VOTE: 4 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br /> • <br />
