February 22, 1978 <br />Page 3 <br />Chairperson Haako pointed ouC that the ~resent zoning is R-1 and that R-2 is being <br />brou~ht in along the west side of Siiver Lake Road, and that the nartheast corner <br />~1s designated for cortmercial. <br />Mr, Karian stated that he hau checked with the St. Pau1 Water Works, kl7o had age~eed <br />to tssue a permit to run water pipes across the road. Official Rose added that <br />there would be no problem in crossing the road, and thaC Staff may require that exect <br />detalls of the drainage be worked out if the Commis,ion & Council approve the request. <br />Comnission Member Glezer asked if the 100,000 gai1on per month water consumptlon <br />fit within the City water budgt:. Official Rose replied that there would be no <br />problem with the water consumption, <br />Chairperson Haake asked that the Comnission Members address the issue of rezoning <br />and the conditional use pennit, and stated that other details could bP worked out <br />later, <br />Comnission Member Burmeister questioned whether there would be a traffic problem <br />as there had aiready been severa7 accidenis at that intersection, ~nd stated that <br />the area was already heavily traveled. <br />Official Rose replied that the Ci~y coutd envision a 4-way stop sign at that intarsection <br />when the Kraus-Anderson property is developed, but that for the present,'the traffic <br />counes on County Road I were 7ow and the County had not yet determined a need for <br />traffic controls. <br />,~ Gomnissian Member Foss stated that he felt the property shoutd be a higher density <br />i than R-1 6ut that the main Gharacteristics of the neighborhood were residential <br />and that he would rather see tlie land remain residentiat. He stated tha: fie felt <br />` the plan was gnod buC wouid prefer samethinq more in conformity with the nrea. <br />Mr. Karian stated that he owns quite a bit more 7and behind his car wash in Blaine, <br />where he was planning on putting in duplexes, since he felt duplexes go we71 with <br />business esta611shments.
