Mounds View City Council February 28, 2000
Regular Meeting Page 25
p.m. He explained that this meeting would be broadcast on Channel 16, and the residents were
welcome to attend the meeting as well. He noted that typically resident input is not taken during
the Work Sessions, as this is seen as an opportunity for the Council to get up to speed on these
issues. He indicated if there were any other issues the audience would care to address they could
contact Director of Public Works Ulrich at City Hall, and discuss them with him personally. He
thanked the residents for their comments.

There were no further requests or comments from the floor.

Mayor Coughlin recessed the meeting at 9:39 p.m.

The City Council Meeting reconvened at 9:53 p.m.

10. COUNCIL BUSINESS

A. Resolution Accepting Update Comprehensive Plan Recommended by the
Planning Commission and Authorizing its Submittal to the Metropolitan
Council.

Community Development Director Jopke stated as required by State Law, the Planning
Commission has completed the development of an updated Comprehensive Plan, and has
forwarded its recommendation to the City Council. He advised that the next steps in this matter
are to continue the public input process, and to submit the Comprehensive Plan to the
Metropolitan Council for their review, as well as to the adjacent communities. He stated
Resolution 5415, which was before the Council, does not approve the Comprehensive Plan, but
merely continues the process as required by State Law.

Community Development Director Jopke stated he would anticipate that after the comments are
received, this item would be brought back before the City Council for formal approval, and a
formal public hearing would be scheduled before the City Council at that time.

Mayor Coughlin stated there would be further opportunity for public input, and every opportunity
for the Council, both at the Work Session and during their consideration, to make any changes
and amendments to the Comprehensive Plan.

Community Development Director Jopke stated this was correct.

MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Stigney.
