Mounds View City Council July 22, 2049 <br />Regular Meeting Page 7 <br />1 <br />2 Council Member Gunn stated she was uncertain where a dog park could be placed in the City. <br />3 She did not support this type of park going forward. <br />4 <br />5 Council Member Meehlhause did not support the City having a dog park. <br />6 <br />7 Mayor Mueller questioned who would be responsible for cleaning up a dog park. Public Works <br />8 Director Peterson stated this would be the responsibility of Public Works. <br />9 <br />10 Council Member Bergeron indicated he could support the Parks Committee researching this <br />11 further. <br />12 <br />13 Council Member Hull did not believe it was necessary to move forward with a dog park. <br />14 <br />15 Mayor Mueller supported the Parks Committee researching the topic further. <br />16 <br />17 Public Works Director Peterson indicated the Parks Committee was wondering if the splash pad <br />18 should be named. The Council supported the splash pad being named Splash Down. <br />19 <br />20 Public Works Director Peterson stated the fee schedule for renting park shelters was discussed by <br />21 the Parks Committee. He explained the proposed fees would be $40 for a four-hour block and <br />22 the block time would be flexible. The Council supported this recommendation. <br />23 <br />24 Public Works Director Peterson reported the splash pad would be open on Wednesday, July 24tH <br />25 He questioned when the Council wanted to hold a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony. <br />26 The Council supported holding the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, <br />27 August 2nd at 1:00 p.m. <br />28 <br />29 City Administrator Zikmund requested the Council consider holding a retreat surrounding the <br />30 City's 2020 strategic plan. He recommended this meeting be held Monday, August 191h or <br />31 October 21St at Random Park. The Council supported meeting on Monday, August 19th at 6:00 <br />32 p.m. <br />33 <br />34 Human Resources Technician Ewald discussed the hiring process that was held for the TAC/ <br />35 Records Technician opening at the Police Department. She noted this position was now filled <br />36 and staff would now be working to hire an administrative assistant for the Police Department. <br />37 <br />38 City Administrator Zikmund reported he just learned from Police Chief Harder that the City <br />39 would have a record number of traffic stops in 2019. He explained the police were present in the <br />40 community and traffic citations were being written. <br />41 <br />42 City Administrator Zikmund provided the Council with an update on the Charter Commission. <br />43 He explained the court sent all Charter Commission members, himself, City Attorney Riggs and <br />44 the Mayor a notice for a hearing. He indicated this hearing would be held to gather evidence on <br />45 Monday, August 5th at 9:00 a.m. <br />
