program this summer. The leaders and participants truly enjoyed <br />the arts and crafts activities that were purchased for them but <br />they thought that it would be nice to have one more craft activ- <br />ity for each program. The leaders felt positive about the ath- <br />letic equipment supplied for them and were often amazed at the <br />amount available. All leaders also applauded the Puppet Wagon <br />for the superb job that they did at each park. Finally, the <br />excursions were overall, enjoyed by the leaders and the parti- <br />cipants. Some suggestions for excursions included picking <br />places that were close to Mounds View. Often, the drive to the <br />excursion was longer than the activity itself. Another sugges- <br />tion was to coordinate the bus pick-up better. Instead of <br />picking up the participants every ten minutes, the busses should <br />be separated and pick the children up at the same time. A final <br />suggestion would be to purchase t -shirts as part of the summer <br />fee. This would make the excursions easier for the leaders as <br />they could keep track of the participants better. All of the <br />leaders enjoyed having three "Butterflies are Free" excursions <br />and five "Playcenter" excursions. The program should definitely <br />keep the excursions the same. The leaders informed me that the <br />participants thoroughly enjoyed each excursion and were excited <br />about each one. However, the children were disappointed that the <br />Twin's game was cancelled. This was beyond our control. <br />Finally, the leaders discussed the playcenter facilities <br />in their evaluations. Hillview Park leaders like the placement <br />of the new building and are looking forward to the new picnic area. <br />They are all pleased with the needed changes at Hillview. The <br />only change that could improve the park would be new shade trees <br />in the picnic area. Woodcrest Park leaders also enjoyed their <br />-3- <br />
