"FOCUS NEWSPAPER' ARTICLE
OAKWOOD PARK
IMPROVEMENT UPDATE
PARK MAINTENANCE STANDARDS
-5 -
13. Trash cans.
14. Pond management program.
The Commission directed staff to write a
resolution to be submitted to the City Council
for approval, encompassing all of the additions
and changes to the Silver View Park Master
Plan as recommended by the Parks and
Recreation Commission.
Commissioner Long requested that staff write
an article for the City Newsletter to let the
public know the many projects that have been
completed in the parks in the last five years.
Director Saarion distributed a copy of an
article which ran in the Focus Newspaper
regarding Silver View Park. Director Saarion
did call the reporter to request that in the
future, should the reporter write articles about
the parks, that she call Director Saarion to
verify that the information is accurate.
Director Saarion reported that the City Council
approved the proposed improvements at
Oakwood Park. Staff has ordered the
equipment and installation will begin as soon
as possible. The playground equipment will
be installed by an outside contractor rather
than in-house. SEH, consulting engineers for
the City, estimate that 500 cubic yards of fill
will be needed. Staff added that the new
backstop has been ordered as well.
A draft resolution accepting the standards will
go to the Council on August 7.
At this time, it is unsure if a meeting between
the Park and Recreation Commission and
Council is still planned. Staff will notify the
Commission of any meeting changes.
