MEMO TO: MAYOR AND COUNCIL <br />FROM: PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY DIRECTOR <br />SAARION <br />DATE: SEPTEMBER 15, 1989 <br />SUBJECT: UPDATE ON OAKWOOD PARK IMPROVEMENTS <br />Oakwood Park playground equipment has been installed along <br />with the two picnic tables and grill. The tot lot has been <br />timbered with sand as a base. <br />City Public Works staff has removed the bushes which <br />formerly surrounded the old playground equipment, players <br />benches, backstop, bleachers along with the concrete slabs. <br />The topsoil import dirt has been delivered and is currently <br />stockpiled at the site. Imported, common sand material will <br />be trucked in on Monday and Tuesday, September 18 and 19 at <br />which time Stanway Construction will begin the grading. <br />The old ag lime will be piled and Public Works staff will <br />relocate it to a new position for the Greenfield pathway <br />aligning it to the Quincy Street sidewalk. <br />Forester Wriskey will be removing two trees that lie in the <br />area of the left field. These will be relocated to Hillview <br />Park picnic area. Forester Wriskey prefers to wait until <br />after October lst to transplant the trees. <br />The ballfield backstop has been delivered and is currently <br />stored in the Public Works area. It will be installed after <br />the ballfield has been constructed. <br />If Council has any questions regarding Oakwood Park <br />improvements, please feel free to call me at 784-3055, <br />Ext. 20. <br />NIS / MJS <br />
