only city facilities using the cable ropes. Staff would like to
replace all the chain links with cable ropes on the swings at
Groveland, Woodcrest, and Hillview Parks.
5. Park Signage ($500.00) - It has been requested by the Parks
and Recreation Commission and city residents that more signs be
placed in the parks publicizing the rules and regulations
pertaining to park usage, curfew, ordinances, emergency numbers,
etc.
6. Woodcrest Hockey Boards ($25,000) - The Woodcrest Park
hockey rink is the designated rink used by Lake Region Hockey.
It has extensive use by Irondale High School broomball leagues
and is a favorite site for league play. The hockey boards
however are in terrible shape and need replacement for safety and
aesthetics.
The replacement of the boards would include materials and
construction of the new rink in the latest style and construction
of hockey rinks including top of the line materials, turn key,
labor, painting, posts, gates, fencing, etc. It is estimated
that such a facility would have a 20-25 year longevity. The
current hockey boards are very old, at least 15-20 years old.
The new design of hockey boards use lateral boards at the ends
providing durablity.
7. Staff wishes to provide an asphalt parking lot
with curbing. This would improve the aesthetics of the park and
could provide for some hard surface play areas such as basketball
and foursquare during summer playground activities.
Currently a large open storm water drain pipe is located in
Lambert Park. Not only does it take away space but it is also
unsightly and could be a safety hazard for children who climb on
the pipe or enter the pipe. This pipe could be buried and connec
ted to the storm water drainage plan.
8. Silver View Park Improvements $10400) - These improvements
are listed in the Silver View Park Improvement Plan and include
picnic tables, benches, grills, 2 glider swings, and completion
of the sprinking system including the soccer field and the area
around the picnic shelter.
9. City Hall Softball Field Sprinkling ($14,000) - City Hall
Fields would finish the sprinkling needs of the community parks
in the City. To date the fields at Silver View and Greenfield
Community Parks are sprinkled.City Hall fields are covered with
weeds and stickers because grass is vertually impossible to grow
without the use of sprinkling. City Hall gounds are currently
sprinkled in the front of City Hall and the lush grass is
beautiful. Such success is desired in the athletic fields.
10. New Pick-up Truck for Forestry ($17,000) - Currently the
