Fores" <br />Wood Chip Mulch Free to Residents <br />Wood chips generated from tree removal and trimming projects will be available at the Compost Facility at Ardan <br />Park located on Lona Lake Road and Ardan Aventip <br />The benefits of a wood chip mulch (2 - 4 inches deep) around a tree are many: <br />* Soil moisture retention <br />• Weed and grass control <br />' Trunk protection from mowers and equipment <br />* Soil compaction prevention <br />Larger ioads of wood chips can often be obtained from certain contractors operating locally. Please call the <br />Forester, Rick Wriskey, at 638-2125 for more information. <br />Ramsey County Compost Site Information <br />Ramsey County operates a compost facility in the City of Mounds View at Ardan Park, located at Long Lake <br />Road and Ardan Avenue. <br />Hours Now through November 30: <br />Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm <br />Saturdays from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm <br />Sundays from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm <br />The compost facility is closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will be closed on Labor Day, September 7, 1998. <br />Acceptable materials are leaves, grass clippings and other soft yard waste. Brush and woody materials are not <br />accepted. For additional information, residents may call 633-3279 or 773-4455 for a recorded message of site <br />locations and times. <br />Tree City USA <br />City Awarded Tree City USA Designation 16th Consecutive Year <br />For the 16th time, the City of Mounds View has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Founda- <br />tion. Recommended to the Foundation by the State Forester, Mounds View has annually received the award <br />based on its forestry services of tree planting and disease control, Arbor Day events and associated activities of <br />the City, Some of the other forestry services offered by the city are: <br />Public tree and landscape maintenance <br />" Christmas Tree Recycling <br />" Wood chip mulch sites <br />* Estimates on private tree removal <br />* Forestry seminars and information <br />* Spring tree sale <br />* Boulevard tree trimming <br />* On -Site diagnosis of residential tree and <br />landscape problems <br />The City of Mounds View has a joint powers agreement for forestry services with the City of New Brighton.
