Item No : 08D <br />Meeting Date: May 11, 2020 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review: ____ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Rayla Sue Ewald, Human Resources Coordinator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9270, Approving the Hire of Daniel Wattenhofer to <br />the Public Works Arborist/Parks Maintenance Worker Position <br />Background: <br />During the October Work Session, City Council approved staff posting the Public Works Parks <br />Maintenance/Forester position. Only one application was received and staff returned to Council <br />on January 13, 2020 with Resolution 9225 requesting to change the job title to Public Works <br />Arborist/Park Maintenance Worker, and with approval, the position was re-posted. <br /> Discussion: <br />Five (5) applications were received for consideration and all candidates were interviewed for the <br />Public Works Arborist/Park Maintenance Worker position. The interview panel consisted of Public <br />Works Director Peterson, Public Works Superintendent Szurek, Public Works Parks Lead <br />Atkinson, and Human Resources Coordinator Ewald. It was the consensus of the interview panel <br />to recommend Daniel Wattenhofer to the position of Arborist/Parks Maintenance Worker. <br /> <br />Mr. Wattenhofer would begin at Level A of the 2020 Public Works Labor Agreement, which is <br />$29.58 per hour. He would complete a one year probationary period, and upon successful <br />completion, advance to Level B. <br /> <br />2020 Hourly Wage Schedule: <br />Level A Level B Level C <br />$29.58 $31.23 $32.87 <br /> <br />Mr. Wattenhofer is in the process of completing the background process and has an anticipated <br />start date of June 1, 2020. <br /> Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: <br />Create a culture where employees desire to work. <br /> Financial Impact: <br />This is a budgeted position. <br /> Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends the City Council adopt Resolution 92 70 , approving the hire of Daniel <br />Wattenhofer to the Public Works Arborist/Parks Maintenance Worker position. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> ______________________ <br />Rayla Sue Ewald <br />Human Resources Coordinator
