From:
Brian Eichers
To:
Jon Sevald
Subject:
Public Hearing - 5045 Rainbow Ln
Date:
Monday, August 9, 2021 3:05:52 PM
Caution: This email originated outside our organization; please use caution.
Mr Sevald,
I will not be attending the public hearing on Aug 18th because I will be out of state on military
Reserve business, but also because the 6ft fence violation doesn't really bother me too much,
given that it doesn't stick too far from the front corners of the house.
I am Aaron's next door neighbor and share a property line with him. Unknown if anyone will
take the time to appear in person to object, but since I am Aaron's neighbor, I get the bulk of
complaints from the block regarding his yard. This is America, and rather than deal with a
person directly, us Americans like to complain to other people instead.
No one has commented on the sections that exceed 6ft specifically, however I have had at
least three neighbors on the street comment endlessly about his 4ft privacy fence since he built
it in his front yard last year. Comments range from how ugly and ghetto it looks, to how it
causes safety concerns for school children walking from Sunnyside, because they cannot see
his three unlicensed, obnoxiously loud barking dogs until they walk past the fence and get the
crap scared out of them. Other comments wonder why he is the only property in the City who
is allowed a screened privacy fence in the front yard at all, whether it is 4ft or not.
Other fence -related complaints that I have received about him within the last year include the
south side of his yard on Co Rd H. There are numerous post holes dug and left open, for
probably the last year or so. Drive past today and you can clearly see them open and exposed.
There is also concern that he plans to build another wooden privacy fence along the Co Rd H
boulevard and extend it almost to the corner intersection of Co Rd H and Rainbow Ln. I have
addressed that with him personally in the past and even referenced City ordinances that
explain the need for setback so vehicles can see around corners at an intersection, but who
knows what his plans are.
Aaron is a good neighbor and I like him. Is his 4ft privacy fence ugly and negatively affect my
house resale potential? Yes. Do the small sections which are 6ft tall cause me any problems?
No. Compared to a tiny yard that smells heavily of dog poop and three dogs that yap endlessly
when let outside (he tries his best to control that) the 6ft section of the front fence does not
really bother me.
Thanks for your time.
v/r,
Brian Eichers
5053 Rainbow Ln
612-361-2924
