Mounds View City Council November 22, 2021 <br />Regular Meeting Page 10 <br /> <br />4.14 Reasonable Work Time for Nursing Mothers and Lactating Employees, <br />Effective January 1, 2022. <br /> <br />Human Resources Coordinator Ewald stated requested the Council approve revisions to the City’s <br />Personnel Manual, Section 4.14 regarding reasonable work time for nursing mothers and lactating <br />employees, effective January 1, 2022. She noted Minnesota State Statute 181.939 has been <br />updated which requires the City to update Section 4.14 of its Personnel Manual. She explained the <br />change would allow nursing or lactating employees to take reasonable paid breaks as opposed to <br />unpaid breaks, which they currently get. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Bergeron/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 9491, <br />Approving Revisions to the City’s Personnel Manual, Section 4.14 Reasonable Work Time for <br />Nursing Mothers and Lactating Employees, Effective January 1, 2022. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />K. Resolution 9490, Employee Appreciation. <br /> <br />Human Resources Coordinator Ewald requested the Council adopt a Resolution granting full and <br />part-time employees four hours of vacation pay to be used in the next year. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause questioned how many permanent part-time employees does the City <br />have. Human Resources Coordinator Ewald reported the City had 19 permanent part-time <br />employees. <br /> <br />City Administrator Zikmund explained the City had done this in the past. He discussed how trying <br />the past two years have been on staff and noted these additional four hours of paid vacation would <br />be greatly appreciated by staff. He thanked each employee at City Hall for their tremendous efforts <br />on behalf of the community. He encouraged the Council to support these additional four hours of <br />paid vacation for a job well done by all City employees. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Meehlhause/Bergeron. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 9490, <br />Employee Appreciation. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />L. Resolution 9500, Approving Recruitment Process for Police Officer. <br /> <br />Human Resources Coordinator Ewald requested the Council approve the recruitment process for <br />a police officer. She explained the Mounds View Police Department would be losing an <br />investigator due to retirement. Staff is asking for flexibility for the process and the potential to <br />offer an accelerated or additional compensation dependent on the candidate’s experience. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller questioned when staff anticipated this individual would begin working for the <br />Mounds View Police Department. Human Resources Coordinator Ewald anticipated this would <br />be in February of 2022.
