City of <br />MowtSMW E <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: Firefighter/Fire Marshal/Code Inspector <br />Department: Community Development <br />Accountable To: Community Development Director <br />FLSA Status: Full Time, Non -Exempt <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION <br />The Firefighter/Fire Marshal/Code Inspector responds to fire and emergency calls; <br />and conducts fire inspections under the SBM Fire Chief; in addition to other duties <br />which include administration of the rental licensing program in coordination with <br />the Permit Technician, and Neighborhood Resource Officer; conducts inspections <br />of property nuisances. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general guidance and direction of the Community Development <br />Director. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />None. <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />Firefighter <br />• Responds to fire and emergency calls for SBM Fire performing protective <br />services work by responding to emergency situations. <br />• Under the direction of a SBM supervisor, administers life and property <br />saving actions. <br />• Maintains fire department equipment, apparatus, facilities, and property. <br />• Work involves frequent strenuous physical involvement. <br />• Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. <br />• This position is unscheduled and will occur at various times throughout the <br />work week. <br />Fire Marshal <br />• Conducts fire inspections to ensure that new and existing commercial, <br />industrial and multi -family facilities and structures conform to adopted fire <br />codes in a manner that will minimize fires and prevent injuries. <br />• Conducts new construction Phase I (Limited) plan reviews, inspections and <br />issues fire permits including but not limited to fire alarms, extinguishing <br />systems and controlled burns. <br />• Responds to fire alarms and follow-up with corrective actions. <br />• Conducts Department of Human Services inspections (daycare, foster care, <br />residential care facilities, etc.). <br />
