inflationary surge of the early 1980s, I think that tying the city's hands while costs rise would be a recipe for disaster.

Valerie Amundsen - Blake Downes - You have a right to your opinion Blake. The city chose to use their resources to fight the petition presented to them. It was their decision, not
mine. One person alone can not bring a petition to the city. It requires a group of Sponsors numbering at least 5 people, and then required a minimum of 382 signatures to qualify
as enough signatures to be considered. This was not my petition. It was the petition of 502 Mounds View voters, who had the right under MN Statutes to present this to our city. There
were others who circulated the petition also, a team of 12 who walked this around the streets of MV in the middle of winter. We found about 98% of those we spoke to, supported the
petition. We could have gotten many more signatures, but we didn't need more. You have every right to differ with me, as do I with you. I have no problem with you feeling the way
you do Blake.

Dan Charron - Blake Downes I'm not against tax increases if it's done the right way. But when things get done by shady dealings and end arounds to avoid having to deal with laws and
processes that are in place to prevent corruption that is the definition of corruption. Government is defined by the constitution as of the people, for the people, by the people.
When has anyone in power ever asked you/me/anyone what they wanted.

Blake Downes - Dan Charron - At the local level, I get asked quite often; sometimes I just let them know what I think. Sometimes my representatives agree with me, and sometimes they
don't. And I also get to express myself at election time. In this case, there was a provision in the charter that should never have been there. Those who represent me were wise to remove
it.

Valerie Amundsen - Blake Downes - Just to be clear, they didn't remove the provision in the charter Blake - they increased the amount that the annual levy can increase annually.
Blake Downes - Valerie Amundsen - Good point; they made it so that it's now based on circumstances rather than an arbitrary number.

Blake Downs – Valerie Amundsen – Good point, they made it so that it’s now based on circumstances rather than arbitrary numbers.

Peter Stampfle - "Not against tax increases if done the right way?" That's like saying it's okay my house was robbed because they didn't take all of my valuables.

Troy Nelson - Blake Downes If this is really an issue that the council messed up on. Boy oh boy we are going to have many council members to pick from on next election. So many experts.

Andrea Shoup - Thank you again Valerie Amundsen for spearheading this effort! As someone who helped gather signatures for this petition, this has been a very eye opening experience.

As I've stated before, whether you want an increase in your taxes or not, there's a long list of very concerning decisions that were made, and policies and statutes that were ignored
that you should all be concerned about. I want honesty, transparency, and collaboration with our elected officials who represent us. Not just on issues that I support or that matter
to me or that matter to you.
