In fact, I believe that having different
opinions actually improves the government by finding
better results and better outcomes. But the final
decision is the decision of a body, the commission.
I'm just one of the commissioners on a commission of
nine. I hope that others would listen to me, but I
know that sometimes there's impediments for that.
I do believe that I've done nothing wrong.
I've attended all of the meetings since my
appointment in 2016, and I have fulfilled my duties
as chair and as secretary, and I've done the best to
my ability and my judgment as I had stated in my
original oath that I would do for this Court.
I believe that there's a basic political issue
here, and that is that the council is under the
impression that a full complement of the commission
is required in order for the commission to function.
And because of that and because of the fact that I
am a person who believes in dialogue, that they
would rather not have me on the commission. I also
believe that the council, which has the authority in
410.12 to request amendment proposal or to propose
amendments to the charter, would rather not take
that path but would rather take the path of 410.12
where the commission is allowed to suggest changes
