Anderson, Directo <br /> Parks , Recreation and ore r1�,\ <br /> y <br /> DATE: November 24, 1981 <br /> RE: LAMBERT PARK SHELTER BUILDING <br /> As you ' re aware the City Council allocated $30,000.00 for the construction <br /> and re-vitalization of the City' s five park shelter buildinas . Staff <br /> submitted a memo dated September 22 , 1981 to the Mounds View Parks and <br /> Recreation Commission outlining a three-pronged approach to resolving <br /> the current warming house dilemma. The recommendations were as follows : <br /> 1. Eliminate the skating facility at Oakwood Park <br /> 111/0 <br /> and Edgewood Junior High. <br /> 2. Rent one portable shelter building from Satellite <br /> Industries for Woodcrest, Greenfield and Hill,yiew <br /> Parks. <br /> 3. Purchase one shelter building for Lambert Park. <br /> Staff currently is in the process of implementina this plan as was approved <br /> by the City Council in concept. At this time we are proposing to maintain <br /> eight sheets of ice reduced from eleven from previous years which means <br /> eliminating both Oakwood Park and Edgewood Jr. High School skating sites. <br /> Secondly, we have contacted Satellite industries and made the necessary <br /> arrangements for three warming house shelter buildings to be located at <br /> Woodcrest, Greenfield and Hillview Parks. Staff has also purchased a new <br /> park shelter building for Lambert Park which has been ordered and delivered. <br /> • In addition to implementing the plan staff has been keeping a detailed list <br /> of the proposed expenditures to ensure that the $30,000.00 figure is not <br /> exceeded. To date, we have made only one expenditure, that being the purchase <br /> of the building for a tc 1 cost of $11 ,943. 12. Staff envisions additional <br />
