• Park Shelter Buildings
Page 3
September 22, 1981
•
Specific rationale and background data for each of staffs recommendations is as
follows:
1. Elimination of Oakwood and Edgewood Jr. High pleasure skating rinks
is based on past usage ability to maintain and accessibility to neighboring
rinks . By eliminating Oakwood we will reduce the budget by approximately
$2 ,300.00 including staff, electric, and satellite costs.
Although Edgewood Jr. High is more difficult to justify because of high
- usage by the school district and lack of rink proximity , staff feels that
increased maintenance costs justify the reduction. It would be staff' s
feeling that either Groveland Park or Edgewood Park be eliminated and
Edgewood is the best choice due to past usage, proximity of rinks and
neighborhood demand.
• 2. The costs of renting portable shelter buildings range from $125./month for
an 8' x 16' building or 8' x 32 ' box at $205./month. We would need
rental buildings for three sites ;
Greenfield Park
Hillview Park
Woodcrest Park
The trailers come equipped with insulated panels , windows , two doors , desk and
heating system.
Staff would recommend the 8' x 32' at a cost of $205.00/month or a total of
$1 ,530.00 for a 10 week period extending from December 12 - February 21 , 1981.
In addition to the rental costs , we would need approximately $200.00 to modify
the building with a plywood floor and screening over the windows , plus
electrical hook up for approximately $100/building and delivery charges of
$330.00. Total estimated cost for renting three 8' x 32' buildings would be
$3 ,000.00, excluding any additional insurance premium (City must insure) and
• vandalism costs .
