I <br /> PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> • MINUTES <br /> Page 5 <br /> June 25 , 1981 <br /> • <br /> PARK BOND ISSUE (cont .) members felt that it would be most advantageous at <br /> this time to schedule a follow-up referendum due to <br /> the status of the economy and rising costs of park <br /> development . A motion was made by Commissioner Linke, <br /> seconded by Commissioner Dennehy to schedule a park <br /> referendum for August 18th, 1981 . The motion passed <br /> unanimously . <br /> 7 ayes <br /> 0 nayes <br /> A general discussion then followed to determine what <br /> the specific amount of funds that should be requested <br /> for park development . The discussions ranged from <br /> • the possibility of $800 , 000 . 00 up to 2 . 5 million dollars <br /> Following further discussion a motion was made by <br /> Commissioner Linke , seconded by Commissioner Bowman <br /> to have a park referendum for 1 . 4 million dollars with. <br /> the specific projects and parks to be developed to be <br /> prioritized at a later date . The motion passed uanimous <br /> ly . <br /> 7 ayes <br /> 0 nayes <br /> A variety of discussion then centered around a number <br /> of topics , including whether or not the issue should be <br /> one single issue or a number of seperate issues . It <br /> was then determined by a general concensus of the park <br /> board that it should be one major issue and not be split <br /> between two seperate ballots . Staff then presented a <br /> brief report on the possibility of a park maintenance <br /> • addendum which would be a integral part of the park <br /> referendum ballot . Following a general discussion <br /> again, a notion was made by Chairperson Burmeister, <br /> econd, tl Commissioner Linke to have a second question <br />
