Anderson, D' d o , <br /> Parks , Recreation an. d -.. t <br /> DATE: December 21, 1982 <br /> RE : Departmental Services <br /> As per your request at the December 14, 1982 staff meeting for each <br /> department head to list current services that are provided within <br /> our respective departments ; I have prepared the following staff memor- <br /> andum outlining our specific department services and a copy of our <br /> current goals within the department broken down by each of our respec- <br /> tive divisions. <br /> Services currently provided under our RECREATION PROGRAMMING DIVISION <br /> include the following: <br /> 1. Recruitment, interviewing , hiring , training of 250 - 300 part-time <br /> seasonal employees who in turn coordinate over 250 individual <br /> recreation programs. <br /> 2 . We plan, implement and evaluate all recration and leisure oriented <br /> programs within the entire city of Mounds View which currently <br /> number over 250 programs ranging from pre-school to senior citizens . <br /> 4110 3 . We serve in an advisory capacity to local community clubs including <br /> Sunrise Senior Club, Lakeside Park Commission, School District #621, <br /> Community Education Council, Mounds View Athletic Association, <br /> Irondale Basketball Association, Lake Region Hockey, Mounds View <br /> A.A.U . Swim Club, Boy Scouts , Girl Scouts and other related <br /> community agencies . <br /> 4 . Develop and coordinate the City Newsletter including compilation <br /> of materials , preparation and final printing through the delivery <br /> stage. <br /> 5 . Serve as the City' s public relations agency through effective use <br /> of local media, flyers , school announcements and posters and <br /> letter correspondence. <br /> 6 . Develop policies and procedures required to maintain our ongoing <br /> recreation programs for full time , part-time, seasonal employees <br /> and volunteer employees . <br /> 7 . Purchase and inventory all recreation equipment for the current <br /> 250 recreation programs that are offered in the City. <br /> 8 . Serve as leisure experts for residents whereby we identify exist- <br /> ' ing programs in other communities that may be of interest to <br /> residents . <br /> 1 • 9 . We coordinate use of all school district facilities including both <br /> indoor and outdoor facilities through the Community Education Dept . <br /> I <br /> 1 .. <br />
