I know that Silver View Park is a popular choice. I believe that this building
is not compatible with Silver View Park for these reasons:
1 . Silver View is a park facility encouraging outdoor activities. An inside
classroom, passive activity facility does not fit in with the designed use
of the park.
2. The building would be a target for vandals if placed at Silver View Park.
3. Silver View Park does not enhance youth or pre-school activities with a
lot or play structure.
4. , Silver View Park is designed as an adult park and should not compromise
its high-density activity to passive classroom instruction.
5. A building located at Silver View Park should include a picnic shelter,
toilet facilities and storage area. The picnic shelter would offer
tournaments and leagues a place for gathering and eating and would also
lend itself for concession stands. The toilet facilities would offer
relief for players and spectators and the storage area could house
ballfield grooming equipment, bases, chalk, etc.
6. The portable classroom could not offer any of these needs at Silver View
Park.
If it were used for such needs, it would be massacred in less than one
year due to misuse of what the classroom is intended.
7. Electrical hook up to the Silver View site would be $5,000.00 because no
access is available.
410
My final thoughts on this building is that it is perfect for classroom
recreational programming use. It is built for this intention. I do not see it
useable as a park shelter building such as ice rinks or playgrounds because we
have sufficient facilities for these activities.
What we really need is a facility whose usage can be controlled with the sole
purpose being meetings and instruction. I am sure such a building could be
programmed for community use every night of the week plus weekends and
daytimes.
MS/sl
