Anderson ��, c' Parks, Recrea ion or' • o4 - ry 64 \ :;ert) DATE: May20, 1986 �1� ` 017) 1 RE: Herbst Sub-division 19 Commissioner Silvis requested staff to provide a breakdown of possible projects for the use of the $39 , 000 from the Herbst sub- division at the May 1 Commission meeting. Staff ' s reactionwould be threefold: 1 . To develop a policy for park dedication monies , whereby 75 percent would be allocated to long range projects, or a large capital improvement fund , with the remaining 25 percent to be utilized for immediate project development. By adopting some type of a policy such as this, we would be working towards our long range goal of reaching a $500 , 000 capital improve- ment fund whereby we could " live" off the interest for future park rehabilitation projects and still meet some of our short range goals. E) 2. The number one park project that has been delayed for two years running is construction of two lit tennis courts at Groveland Park. I feel this project deserves consideration, as the Groveland Park Foundation has been working long and • hard hours to improve their park site ; this would provide a fitting culmination of their efforts over the past four years. 3. The third priority that I feel is important would be the pav- ing of the Silver View Park parking lot. The parking lot at Silver View Park is currently experiencing a high level of vandalism due to the easy access to the general park area. By paving the parking lot, we would not only enhance the site and improve drainage , but also reduce the existing vandalism problems. Staff also feels that once the Commission completes the work sheets and prioritizing the capital improvement projects as for- warded by staff , the Commission may have a higher priority pro- ject than the three suggested by staff .
