The combined effort produc- <br /> ed a camaraderie among the local beach and pool staft,-. ; <br /> and provided a less expensive training, per staff member , <br /> in a more professional manner. <br /> 3. AQUATIC REFERENCE PERSONNEL: During the past year, new <br /> American Red Cross materials and techniques have beeil <br /> presented to the Shoreview and New Brighton Park and Rec- <br /> reation pool program directors, keeping both agencies <br /> abreast of ongoing American Red Cross changes. In addi - <br /> tion , this centralized aquatic information source was <br /> available for the general public. <br /> 4 . MOUNDS VIEW SWIM CLUB AND NORTHERN SHORES MASTERS SWIM <br /> TEAM: The aquatic director position has provided the <br /> area age group swim club and adult swim team with a cen- <br /> tralized channel for their aquatic scheduling ann <br /> concerns. <br /> 5. MOUNDS VIEW DIVING CLUB (MADURA' S MANIACS ) : Assistant <br /> and direction was provided for a new approach in adver- <br /> tising and enlarging the local diving club. <br /> 6. SPECIALIZED AQUATIC PROGRAM ADVERTISING: The local <br /> Shoreview, Mounds View and New Brighton hton Park and Recrea- <br /> 9 <br /> tion Department advertising of specialized aquatic pro- <br /> grams was coordinated through the aquatic director posi- <br /> tion . ( i .e . : Adapted aquatics, scuba diving , basic res- <br /> cue and water safety, arthritic exercise and Edgewood ' s <br />• <br /> daytime pool schedule . ) <br /> IV. SUMMARY OF THE AQUATICS REPORT <br /> In the first year of the aquatic director position , many <br /> positive changes have occurred. The local pool and beach <br /> program were each evaluated, revised, updated and implement- <br /> ed to lay the foundation for the highest quality of aquatic <br />• program possible . The result has been a dramatic increase 1 <br /> in the pool participation figures, a sizable increase in the <br /> amount of revenue generated, which follows with a notable <br /> increase in the profit margin . The beach atmosphere has <br /> been greatly upgraded and professionalized. <br />
