MEMO TO: Park : a • A :• eation Commission
4111op,
III /,
FROM: S ,
DATE: February 25 , 1986
RE: M.R. P.A. Legislative Issues
Enclosed are three items relating to current legislative issues
that are impacting the state leisure profession . The new legis-
lation , as proposed by Holmes and Gravin would severely reduce
the cities liability for injuries on park and/or public property.
The proposed legislation would make the municipalities and coun-
ties more compatible with the existing laws for private and state
recreation properties.
The second item relates to the upcoming hearings on outdoor rec-
reation programs and facilities which I would invite you to
attend should your schedule permit on April 16, 1986. The third
item is the 1986 M.R. P.A. Legislative Platform.
As a member of M.R.P.A. , I ' d be happy to present the Parks and
• Recreation Commissions position on any of these issues; as well
as relating your support and/or concerns.
Should you have any additional questions on the enclosed legisla-
tive material , feel free to contact myself prior to Thursday' s
meeting at 784-3055 , ext. #20 .
BKA/sll
Enclosure
1110
