The first
question inquired about support for the project :
Would you favor or oppose the City
developing and operating a regulation
nine-hole golf course?
The residents split narrowly in favor of the endeavor :
FAVOR 46%.
OPPOSE 44%.
DON'T KNOW/REFUSED 10%
Groups with strong majorities in favor of the golf course:
* Less than two year residents
* Owner/Manager households
* Over $60,000 yearly income households
Groups with majorities in opposition:
* Over 55 year olds
Reversing the traditional pattern, older citizens were opposed to
the project .
Usage of the facility was examined next :
Whether you favor the project or not,
would you and/or members of this house-
hold be likely to use the golf course?
A slight majority of households would be likely to use the
course:
YES 51%
NO 47%.
DON'T KNOW/REFUSED 2%
Interest was highest among :
* 35-44 year olds
* 11-20 year residents
* Owner/Manager and Clerical /Sales households
* Over $40,000 yearly income households
Non-usage was highest among :
79
