RECREATION:
* The months of July and August are transition months from
completing summer activities and beginning Fall activities.
Athletic fields are changed from softball and baseball
fields to soccer and football fields. The pool program
concluded after the first week of August to enable the
school to prepare the facility for the school year.
* Picnic and park reservations continue to be popular until
after Labor Day, when reservations begin to slacken.
* Organization and preparations for Fall activities begins the
middle of July, with the Activities Brochure completed in
August and registrations in September. Programs began in
September for Fall with registrations also taken for early
Winter activities.
* School facility usage is also administered during the months
of August and September. All the requests are collected and
distribution is given as equitably as possible in order to
satisfy the requests of all groups, associations and
interests.
* Grant administration was continued for the CDBG grant.
• Also, additional grants were prepared and submitted
including the LAWCON grant. Other grants are currently
being studied for possibilities.
* The Regional Senior Citizen Community Center Task Force has
been a vital group that has continued to meet twice a month
throughout this quarter. Additional staff meetings have
also been attended.
* The months of July and August were highlighted with the
presentation of the MVCT production of "CAMELOT" . This time
tends to be a very busy time for the recreation office since
staff serves as ticket and reservation coordinators as well
as assisting the MVCT Board in administrative activities.
•
