PUBLIC HEARING: Introduction and First Reading of Ordinance 1011; <br />5 Amending the Mounds View City Charter by Amending Section 2.06, Subd. 3 <br />6 by Providing Direction to Ensure Continuity in the Performance of the Duties <br />7 of the Mayor. <br />8 <br />9 City Administrator Zikmund requested the Council introduce an ordinance that would amend the <br />10 Mounds View City Charter by Amending Section 2.06, Subdivision 3 by providing direction to <br />1 1 ensure continuity in the performance of the duties of the Mayor. He explained proper notice was <br />12 given and staff recommended the ordinance be introduced. <br />13 <br />14 Acting Mayor Meehlhause opened the public hearing at 6:23 p.m. <br />15 <br />16 Hearing no public input, Acting Mayor Meehlhause closed the public hearing at 6:23 p.m. <br />17 <br />18 MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Lindstrom. To Waive the First Reading and Introduce Ordinance <br />19 1011; Amending the Mounds View City Charter by Amending Section 2.06, Subd. 3 by Providing <br />20 Direction to Ensure Continuity in the Performance of the Duties of the Mayor. <br />21 <br />22 Council Member Lindstrom asked when Acting Mayor Meehlhause brought this item to staff. <br />23 <br />24 Acting Mayor Meehlhause reported he brought this item to staff shortly after the passing of former <br />25 Mayor Al Hull. <br />26 <br />27 Council Member Lindstrom indicated it would take the City almost one year in order to get this <br />28 new legislation in place from the time it was brought to staff. He stated he supported the Council <br />29 having a contingency plan in place. <br />30 <br />31 Acting Mayor Meehlhause commented on how the Council had gotten ahead of the Charter <br />32 Commission on this matter. He asked if this ordinance would allow the Council to name someone <br />33 if the need were to arise. City Attorney Riggs reported this was the case. <br />34 <br />35 Ayes — 4 Nays — 0 Motion carried. <br />36 <br />37 D. PUBLIC HEARING: Second Reading and Adoption Ordinance 1009; <br />38 Amending the Mounds View City Charter to Correct Typographical, <br />39 Punctuation, and Spelling Errors in Multiple Chapters. ROLL CALL VOTE <br />40 <br />41 City Administrator Zikmund requested the Council adopt an ordinance amending the Mounds <br />42 View City Charter to correct typographical, punctuation, and spelling errors in multiple chapters. <br />43 He thanked the Charter Commission for bringing forward these revisions for the Council to <br />44 consider. <br />45 <br />46 Acting Mayor Meehlhause opened the public hearing at 6:30 p.m. <br />
