PUBLIC HEARING: Introduction and First Reading of Ordinance 1011; <br />Amending the Mounds View City Charter by Amending Section 2.06, Subd. 3 <br />by Providing Direction to Ensure Continuity in the Performance of the Duties <br />of the Mayor. <br /> <br />City Administrator Zikmund requested the Council introduce an ordinance that would amend the <br />Mounds View City Charter by Amending Section 2.06, Subdivision 3 by providing direction to <br />ensure continuity in the performance of the duties of the Mayor. He explained proper notice was <br />given and staff recommended the ordinance be introduced. <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Meehlhause opened the public hearing at 6:23 p.m. <br /> <br />Hearing no public input, Acting Mayor Meehlhause closed the public hearing at 6:23 p.m. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Lindstrom. To Waive the First Reading and Introduce Ordinance <br />1011; Amending the Mounds View City Charter by Amending Section 2.06, Subd. 3 by Providing <br />Direction to Ensure Continuity in the Performance of the Duties of the Mayor. <br /> <br />Council Member Lindstrom asked when Acting Mayor Meehlhause brought this item to staff. <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Meehlhause reported he brought this item to staff shortly after the passing of former <br />Mayor Al Hull. <br /> <br />Council Member Lindstrom indicated it would take the City almost one year in order to get this <br />new legislation in place from the time it was brought to staff. He stated he supported the Council <br />having a contingency plan in place. <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Meehlhause commented on how the Council had gotten ahead of the Charter <br />Commission on this matter. He asked if this ordinance would allow the Council to name someone <br />if the need were to arise. City Attorney Riggs reported this was the case. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />D. PUBLIC HEARING: Second Reading and Adoption Ordinance 1009; <br />Amending the Mounds View City Charter to Correct Typographical, <br />Punctuation, and Spelling Errors in Multiple Chapters. ROLL CALL VOTE <br /> <br />City Administrator Zikmund requested the Council adopt an ordinance amending the Mounds <br />View City Charter to correct typographical, punctuation, and spelling errors in multiple chapters. <br />He thanked the Charter Commission for bringing forward these revisions for the Council to <br />consider.
