3
Commissioner Trettel suggested that the Silver View
Park Pond Management Study recommendations be
given great consideration because of the expertise,
knowledge and unbiased considerations provided by
the team of scientists.
GREENFIELD PARK
BASEBALL FIELD UPDATE Director Saarion informed the Commission that the
City has stockpiled 2,000 cubic yards of fill for a
portion of this project. Also, the MVAA has sent out
letters requesting donations, but have not received
notification of donations yet.
Commissioner Stevenson inquired about the need for
a 300 foot right field fence, suggesting that a 275
foot right field fence would suffice. Currently,
$14,000 is budgeted for a 1990 expenditure for the
Greenfield Park baseball field project, considering
that MVAA can raise funds for improvements.
SURVEY RESULTS
YOUTH RECREATION
INTEREST (6-12 GRADES) Staff reviewed results received from the random
survey requesting information from youths in grades
6-12 regarding their free leisure time and
recreational interests. This is the first step for the
design of a program to utilize the park buildings
during the entire year as youth centers for the
implementation of youth activities which match their
needs and free time.
WINTER ICE RINKS Staff reviewed the program mentioning that
attendance has been high due to warm weather.
The ice conditions have been surprisingly good even
though the warm temperatures hinder regular ice
making. It has been experienced that the new
weekday hours of 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. may need to
change next year to 3:30 - 8:30 p.m. to better match
the timing of the skaters.
Commissioner Stevenson requested that games and
activity supplies be placed at Groveland Park to offer
more opportunities for activity than just skating.
