to be constructed immediately. There may be an opportunity for Mounds
View to take advantage of this. Coughlin will work with the Administrator
i to obtain figures.
This Item will remain as unfinished business.
Item 3d) Discussion of Trailway Plans
Long referred to the trailway map that was included in the packet,
indicating existing and proposed trailways. Long stated he thought these
were good plans for trailways.
Coughlin stated that the trail around Spring Lake Road and Bronson Drive
need to be altered due to the reconstruction of both roads since 1992 when
this trailway map was devised but for the most part is an accurate map.
Long asked what the arrows meant on the map. Committee members
explained that these were connections to other cities.
Coughlin stated that there should be a trailway along both sides of County
Highway 10.
Silvis stated that the map needs to be updated to reflect the Edgewood
Drive realignment.
Kroeger stated that he'd like to see the trail be picked up north of County
Road H2.
Long stated that he'd like to see all of the parks and schools connected.
Long also asked if this somehow could be tied into the County Highway
10 Project.
Coughlin stated that he went to the last Public Hearing on the proposed
construction of County Highway 10. If the City wanted anything more, we would have to submit detailed
plans by the end of December, 2001. The Highway 10 commission
couldn't do that at this time.
Long stated that the commission reviewed options and all included some
kind of trail or sidewalk on one side.
Coughlin referred to the $50,000.00 recommended to be put in the budget
for trailway upgrades, and asked if there were specific trailways that
needed more attention than others.
Dazenski stated that the trailway at Silverview Park on the north side of
the pond, is in poor condition. The Public Works Foreman and himself,
have determined that the work can be performed in-house (sections need
to be cut out and replaced) and that will help to keep costs down. The soils
around the pond are unstable.
Coughlin stated that he agrees with maintaining the infrastructure and that
should be included in any further recommendations made to the Council.
Long stated the trailway on Long Lake Road, going north and south,
continue through Mounds View. Also the trail from Silverview Park to
New Brighton (approx % mile) needs to be continued. Also the trail going
