east and west on County Road I to get to Spring Lake Parc should be
continued.
Coughlin stated it is actually Fridley and not Spring Lake Park and that it
does exist now.
Coughlin stated the general recommendation, as mentioned earlier, to have
the goal of connecting the schools and parks is being reflected on the
trailway map. Coughlin stated that this particular proposal should be
presented to the Council to get as much as they can get done with
emphasis of the allocating dollars to present day infrastructure
improvements and upgrades.
Coughlin made the motion that the commission recommend to the City
Council to reconsider the trailway advocacy group of May 1992 as a
whole and to also request that the council to consider the expenditure of
necessary funds to do all needed repairs and upgrades of the trailways
systems in the City.
Silvis 2" d the motion
Discussion from Long asking what will the council do with this
recommendation.
Coughlin stated that any new trailway(s) would need to be linked with a
road construction/reconstruction project and should be included in the
recommendation.
Coughlin revised his motion to recommend the reconsideration of the
trailway proposal and to have the council consider this proposal as one of
the many considerations involved in the planning and ultimately the
reconstruction of streets and roads in the City with the emphasis of
maintenance of the infrastructure.
Motion unanimously passed.
Item 3e) Discussion of the building inspector's report on the condition of the
existing park buildings.
Dazenski reported that he had his department repair some of the obvious
repairs needed on the buildings. He has not heard anything from the
building inspector.
Long asked if there were any structural damages when the Hillview
Shelter was taken down. Dazenski stated no but the soils were unstable
and they were corrected before the new building was constructed.
Dazenski also stated that the construction of the Hillview Shelter is 1 week
behind because the contractor is waiting for a particular truss.
Kroeger asked if there would be a ceremony when the shelter is opened.
Dazenski stated that could be arranged.
This item will remain as unfinished business.
