Mounds View City Council Page Twelve <br />�egular Meeting June 28, 1993 <br />� <br />C J <br />b. <br />Mayor Linke r�sponded that there are a few seniors, but as 8th and <br />9th graders have been added there are only a few "graduated <br />seniors" in the band. <br />Councilmember Quick stated that the band's dedication is <br />incredible. <br />Mayor Linke stated that the band is very loyal to its director. <br />Mayor Linke also reported that on July 6th the Irondale Band <br />will lead the parade for the Lion's Club Convention to b� held <br />in Minneapolis. This is the largest convention ever held in <br />Minneapolis. There will be 30 bands in the parade. The parade <br />will begin at 9:00 a.m. starting on Third and Washington in <br />Minneapolis. Mayor Linke invited those who could to come and <br />watch the parade. <br />The Trondale Band will perform at the Festival In the Park on July <br />is. <br />Mayor Linke reminded the cable audience and the residents of <br />Mounds View about the forthcoming FOCUS 2000 public forums to <br />be held July 21 and 22. <br />c. Mayor Linke reported that the Association of Metropolitan <br />Municipalities' Housing and Economic Development Committee was <br />looking for a representative for that committee from Mounds View. <br />The Council appointed Councilmember Blanchard to fill that <br />position. Mayor Linke stated that he is a member of the General <br />Legislative Committee and that Samantha Orduno is a member of the <br />Revenue Committee and the League of Minnesota Cities Legislative <br />Committee. <br />Report of Administrator <br />Samantha Orduno, City Administrator, reported that two weeks ago the <br />Council authorized the settlement of $26,600 for the Oak Grove Landfill <br />Superfund litigation. Orduno reported that, at that time, she also <br />indicated that this would not be the last landfill litigation that the <br />City of Mounds View would be involved in. The City has received <br />notification that it has been named in regards to another landfill. <br />Orduno reviewed a cartoon that had been in the paper regarding the <br />proposed responsible parties in a landfill site. The caption read, <br />"...tab will be picked up by the understanding taxpayers." EPA is <br />goinq after the cities not the companies. <br />Mayar Linke commented that the City's settlement was $27,000 for four <br />loads of brush. <br />
