Mounds View City Council Page Thirteen ..egular Meeting June 28, 1993 Orduno commented that in the early 1980's there was a movie ca.11ed, "Network" and in that movie there is a scene where a person is telling the people to throw open their windows and doors and yell, "I'm mad as hell and I won�t take it anymore." The people of Mounds View need to get angry and not take it anymore. �The taxpayers of the City of Mounds View should not have to pay for someone else's garbage. Orduno stated that the City will join again with other cities and will Pight in the Legislature and in Congress - the City will not pay for someone elses' garbage and trash. Mayor Linke stated that the Oak Grove LandfilZ set a precedent that allows the City to settle as a group. The City is not stuck like the old Mom and Pop grocery stores. Mayor Linke stated that he is aware of a company that is being sued by a landfill site because the site has on record that a garbage hauler stated that he remembered haulinq one load of trash from the company. This company's bill will be as large as our bi21 was. The smaller company will pay a great deal when the larger companies that create toxic waste will pay a pittance. Orduno reported that when the City receives a piece of legislation, whether it be federal or local, it will be brought forth and the residents will be made aware of who to contact. Orduno encouraged the � residents to contact their legislators because if they are contacted, residents could pay thousands of dollars out of their pockets over the next 10 years for something the City hasn't done. Mayor Linke announced the dates for the upcoming Council Work Session and next Council Meeting.
