Report of Administrator
1) Samantha Orduno, City Administrator, reviewed the Staff Report
and Resolution No. 4172 regarding Golden Gloves' boxing exhibition
to be held on January 21, 1992 at the Bel-Rae Ballroom. Orduno
stated that prior to this evening's meeting, Tony Jambor,
proprietor of the Bel-Rae Ballroom, had called her and asked her
to pass on a few things to the Council. The first area of concern
to Mr. Jambor was the requirement for two sworn police officers.
This was a problem for the boxing promoter because of the extra
cost. Mr. Jambor explained that he had a special license to
police his own establishment and asked if this requirement could
be waived.
Orduno stated that there would be classifications of boxers
18 years of age and older. Orduno further stated that this
requirement had not been waived past.
MOTION~SECOND: Quick/Wuori to adopt Resolution No.
4172 Authorizing Golden Gloves to Conduct a Boxing
Match at the Bel-Rae Ballroom on January 21, 1992
Mayor Linke stated that this application was filled out
on December 20, 1991 and felt that this did not give the
City adequate time to do administrative detail work with
regard to their license.. Orduno explained that in September of 1991
Council approved an expenditure of no more than $7,750
to Alliance to update the 1990 City Hall Space Needs
Report, however, the report failed to list that the
Study update costs were to be taken ,from the Contingency
Fund.
Orduno also stated that due to the age and structural
design of .City Hall, several unanticpated repairs were
necessary to maintain a safe environment and maintain
building security. Orduno further stated that doors and
locks in several areas had to be fixed or, in some cases,
replaced. These actions necessitated a transfer from
1991 Contingency to the City Hall Budget.
