COUNCIL BUSINESS
A. 7:05 p.m. Public Hearing to Consider Resolution 7758, Interim Use Permit
for a Temporary Tent at the Mermaid Entertainment Center, 2200 County
Road 10.
Planning Associate Heller stated the City received an application for an Interim Use Permit from
the Mermaid for a Temporary Tent at the Mermaid Entertainment Center at 2200 County Road
10. The Mermaid had received a five year permit for their temporary tent in 2010, but a recent
change in ownership has led to this new application. Staff had no objections to the request and
recommended the Council approve of the Resolution.
Mayor Flaherty opened the public hearing at 7:10 p.m.
Hearing no public input, Mayor Flaherty closed the public hearing at 7:10 p.m.
Council Member Mueller questioned how the tent has been used in the past and the intent of how
the tent will be used going into the future. Mike Anderson, new owner of The Mermaid, stated
the tent plans have not changed and it would be used from April through October for wedding
receptions or other corporate events.
Council Member Mueller asked how many people could be seated in the tent area. Dan Hall,
representative from The Mermaid explained the tent had the capacity to seat 500 people.
MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Gunn.
