Mounds View City Council February 27, 2012 <br /> Regular Meeting Page 6 <br /> Colonial Village. Senator Wolf presented the bill. He indicated over 500 residents were affected • <br /> by the lack of a sound wall in this area. He was pleased with the reception of his comments. <br /> Mayor Flaherty indicated the City now has a K-9 unit, an all-black German shepherd that was 22 <br /> months old. The department was working on naming the dog and he would be introduced to the <br /> public at the Town Hall meeting in April. <br /> Council Member Mueller commented read an article recently noting the City of New Hope also <br /> supported the no change to the fiscal disparities program. <br /> Council Member Mueller discussed an article in the Star Tribune regarding tax forfeiture <br /> properties being at an all time high. She encouraged the Council to read this article. She <br /> thanked Kassie Petermann for her recent article on Mounds View resident Jerry Skelly. <br /> Mayor Flaherty stated this article was available in the February 23rd Sun Focus. He was pleased <br /> with the tribute to Jerry and Betty Skelly. <br /> Council Member Mueller noted the Ramsey County Commissioners were discussing the Ramsey <br /> County Dispatch System. Proposals were sent out and funding options were being discussed. <br /> She explained the City of Mounds View supports the updates. <br /> Council Member Mueller indicated Jim Miller, Executive Director of the League of Minnesota <br /> Cities, was recently hospitalized. She explained that cards and well wishes could be passed 10 <br /> along to the League of Minnesota Cities on his behalf <br /> Council Member Mueller commented the next Ramsey County League of Local Government <br /> Meeting would be hosted by the City of Mounds View at the Community Center in March. <br /> Council Member Mueller stated the next Festival in the Park meeting would be held on March <br /> 20th at 7:00 p.m. Additional volunteers were still needed to organize the event, scheduled for <br /> August 18th <br /> Council Member Mueller explained the City was seeking volunteers to reestablish the Mounds <br /> View Garden Club. In addition, the City would like to create and maintain a Veteran's <br /> Memorial Garden. <br /> B. Reports of Staff. <br /> City Administrator Ericson indicated Fire Chief Zikmund applied for several grants through <br /> FEMA to assist the Fire Department with additional staffing. He would report back when further <br /> information was available. <br /> City Administrator Ericson stated Heidi Heller met with the new property manager at Kraus <br /> Anderson, Deb Goodman. The new property manager was brought up to speed with the City's • <br /> concerns. <br />
