Mounds View City Council June 10, 2002 Regular Meeting Page I1 City Administrator Miller indicated that this position is not a director level position and noted that director's report to the City Administrator. Council Member Thomas asked that under essential duties and responsibilities the Commission meetings be added. Mayor Sonterre clarified that there is a cable committee not a cable commission because of varied funding sources and duties for example he does not think that website maintenance fits under franchise fees. He then said he would like to ask that the person filling this position have budgeting experience and said he is not sure it would be appropriate to require that the person do website maintenance. City Administrator Miller indicated that if the position remains at 20 hours per week it may not be possible to ask that the person handle the website maintenance. Mayor Sonterre commented that he feels the City will have a hell of a time finding a person to fill the position based on the skill set and level of experience the position description is asking for. Council Member Thomas noted she felt the same way about the golf course manager position and was proven wrong. t Council Member Stigney indicated he would like the minimum qualifications to require a minimum of two years of audio video school. Mayor Sonterre said he feels that the cable committee needs to be formalized in to a commission by the City. Council Member Marty said he did not feel it was necessary to increase the salary of the cable operator. Mayor Sonterre indicated it may not be necessary to do so but said the position was never given a description upon which to set current or future wages and that is why Staff is seeking authorization to have the position description created. Council Member Stigney asked whether the position, once pointed, would be advertised. City Administrator Miller indicated she would come back to Council with the position description for consideration before advertising for the position. 8. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS None.
