Mounds View City Council June 13, 2005 <br />Regular Meeting Page 2 <br />• Public Works Director Lee stated that the project management team assigned to the County Road <br />10 Corridor Improvement project has discussed this issue with the County. He stated that the <br />County does recognize that the timing is at the pedestrian crossing and this will be corrected as <br />part of the project. <br />6. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS <br />A. Certificate of Recognition for Mounds View Resident Andre Koen, recently <br />named `Community Presentations Volunteer of the Year' by Minneapolis <br />Area Chapter of the American Red Cross. <br />Mayor Marty stated they have a Certificate of Recognition for Mounds View resident Andre <br />Koen recently named the Community Presentations Volunteer of the year by the Minneapolis <br />Area Chapter of the American Red Cross. He asked Mr. Koen to come forward for the <br />presentation. He read the Certificate of Recognition and presented the certificate to Mr. Koen. <br />Sally Newberry, Minneapolis Area Chapter, stated that she would like to leave some brochures <br />and magnets that address how residents can be prepared for emergencies. <br />Mayor Many thanked them for all their hard work noting that the American Red Cross is a very <br />worthwhile organization and a lot of it is based on volunteer efforts. He thanked them on behalf <br />• of the City of Mounds View and the City Council for their work and efforts. <br />7. JUST AND CORRECT CLAIMS. <br />Council Member Flaherty had the following questions: <br />• Page 6, Mr. Manthis -clarified that he is not an employee of the City. Mary Tatarek stated <br />that there are three Mr. Manthis' who provide golf lessons, one is a full time employee and <br />two are contract employees. <br />• Page 6, He asked whose PGA membership dues is the City paying for. Mary Tatarek stated <br />that they are paying their employee, Ken Manthis noting that he is the PGA pro that the golf <br />course has fully employed. Council Member Stigney stated that this PGA membership <br />provides private membership benefits and he personally thinks that Mr. Manthis should be <br />paying for this membership himself adding that he has said that every time this request has <br />been presented and would like to reiterate this again. <br />• Page 13, payment to Fridley for water and sewer: Mary Tatarek explained that a small <br />section of Mounds View actually receives water from the City of Fridley. She stated that the <br />City of Fridley sends the bill to the Mounds View and Mounds View bills the residents. <br />• Page 13, Joseph Holberg, escrow refund: Community Development Community <br />Development Director Ericson explained that this item is related to a minor subdivision on <br />County Road J. He stated that part of a driveway had to be relocated and the City took an <br />escrow to make sure the driveway restoration was completed properly. He stated that the <br />• funds were refunded back upon completion. <br />
