Mounds View City Council September 26, 2005
Regular Meeting Page 34
• Councilmember Gunn cautioned residents to not create huge bonfires fires in their back yard.
Mayor Marty. agreed and noted recreational fires require a burning permit, a fire ring, and cannot
burn yard waste.
Councilmember Thomas pointed out that hauling is starting on the south side but cleaning is still
occurring in that area so she would like them to have additional time to assure they are not
missed.
Mayor Marty stated there may be a possibility of a pass through next week if they are still
working to clear the trees.
Councilmember Thomas explained that this particular neighborhood was not able to start the
cleanup right away so she would like consideration of just that one particular block and is not
suggesting another sweep of the entire City.
Mayor Marty stated he mentioned earlier that the top of a resident's tree was twisted off and that
was recognition of a tornado He asked if that would qualify the City for more assistance. City
Administrator Ulrich stated it would not because the consideration is the amount of property
damage.
Mayor Marty mentioned Ms. Haake's earlier caution for residents to be careful about checking
with their insurance companies and to shop around for a tree removal contractor.
• B. Reports of Staff
1. Announce that City Hall is temporarily moving to the Mounds View
Community Center
City Administrator Ulrich announced that the City Hall will be moving to the Community Center
for approximately six months starting Monday, October 3, 2005. He advised that the City Hall
will be closed on Friday, September 30, and the Mounds View Community Center will be closed
on Saturday, October 1, in order to allow for moving.
City Administrator Ulrich noted the City Police Department will temporarily relocate to the
Ramsey County Sheriff's Office in Arden Hills. A police report writing station will be located at
the Mounds View Community Center so officers will be there on occasion as well.
City Administrator Ulrich explained that the remodeled City Hall will be available for occupancy
by April 1, 2006. For people who wish to drop off utility bills, a drop off box will be provided
inside the community center during extended business hours only.
City Administrator Ulrich announced that beginning October 10, 2005, all Mounds View public
meetings will be held at the New Brighton City Hall. The Council Work Session of October 3,
• 2005 and Planning Commission of October 5, 2005 will be held in the Mounds View Council
Chambers. He advised that the meetings will continue to be televised.
