Resolution 7249, Authorization to Advertise for the Public Works Director <br />Position <br />Assistant Administrator Crane outlined the proposed schedule for advertising the Public Works <br />Director position and said she would like to have someone in place by June 16, 2008. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 7249, <br />Authorization to Advertise for the Public Works Director Position. <br />Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 Motion carried. <br />H. First Reading of Ordinance 803, an Ordinance Amending Title 900, Chapter <br />906 and Chapter 907 of the Mounds View City Code by Adding Language <br />Pertaining to Private Inspections and Other Revisions <br />Public Works Director Lee indicated that there have been legal challenges in other cities <br />regarding city inspections. Legal counsel has suggested these changes to Chapters 906 and 907 <br />to allow citizens to hire a private contractor that is licensed to do the work relating to sump <br />pumps, water meters and the meter readers and report to City crews what is done. <br />Council Member Mueller asked for clarification of the proposed language. Attorney Riggs <br />. explained that this is his response to the concern with legal challenges to requiring city <br />inspections. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Flaherty/Mueller. To Waive the Reading and Introduce Ordinance 803, an <br />Ordinance Amending Title 900, Chapter 906 and Chapter 907 of the Mounds View City Code by <br />Adding Language Pertaining to Private Inspections and Other Revisions. <br />Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 Motion carried. <br />I. Resolution 7228 Approving the Hire of James Ericson to the Position of <br />Clerk -Administrator <br />Assistant Administrator Crane provided a revised Resolution recommending the hiring of James <br />Ericson to the position of Clerk -Administrator. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 7228, <br />Approving the Hire of James Ericson to the Position of Clerk -Administrator. <br />Council Member Stigney indicated that he feels that the City wasted $25,000 going out for <br />candidates. He then said that he has an issue with three items in the contract on vacation, <br />deferred compensation, and salary adjustment. He then said that he is very happy to hire Mr. <br />Ericson for the position and supports him but he cannot support the contract for the reasons <br />stated. <br />
