Mounds View City Council October 27, 2008 <br />Regular Meeting Page 5 <br />• Council Member Mueller asked how often radar and laser calibration is done. <br />Chief Sommer noted that the equipment is calibrated every year. <br />Council Member Flaherty asked about pipe grouting. Finance Director Beer explained that this <br />was work done with the sewer pipes. <br />Council Member Mueller asked about the Ramsey County fleet support fee. Finance Director <br />Beer indicated that this is a fee to Ramsey County to support the license fee for the radios. <br />Mayor Marry noted that he spoke to Staff about the banquet manager's contract, and during <br />discussions with Pat Riemersma there was misinformation and lack of information about hours <br />and benefits, and Matt signed the contract and mentioned that he would like to negotiate a <br />contract. <br />Mayor Marty then said that Matt works hard and cares about the banquet center, and he would <br />like to consider hiring him as a City employee. Mayor Marty said that hiring Matt on as a City <br />employee may be a benefit to the City, and he has asked that a discussion be added to the <br />worksession. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Flaherty/Mueller. Reports of Mayor and Council <br />Mayor Marty noted that the Northwest YMCA is sending home fliers with kids advertising <br />programs and that is in direct competition with the Mounds View programs with the YMCA and <br />there is not enough attendance so some of the Mounds View youth sports activities have been <br />cancelled. <br />Mayor Marty indicated he received an invitation from Pinewood Elementary to attend the Annual <br />Fall Parade on October 31, 2008 at 11:15 a.m. Mayor Marty asked anyone that could to try and <br />attend the parade as it is fun. <br />Mayor Marty reminded everyone to get out and vote. <br />Council Member Hull provided information to Council on a request from a resident for a sign <br />noting "autistic child area." There is also a program that New Brighton has started that is a wrist <br />
