Mounds View City Council October 27, 2008 <br />Regular Meeting Page 6 <br />or ankle band that residents buy, and they are a GPS tracking device in case there is an issue with <br />an autistic child or vulnerable adult. <br />Clerk Administrator Ericson agreed to look into the information provided by contacting New <br />Brighton and the League of Minnesota Cities. <br />B. Reports of Staff <br />Clerk Administrator Ericson noted that there was a joint meeting of the Parks Commission and <br />the Streets and Utilities Committee to discuss a way to ensure that future street projects do not <br />cause issues with the parks. The Parks Commission does not feel that any additional parking is <br />necessary and they are recommending that the City does not include it in the street project. <br />Council Member Mueller said that there was concern with barrier curbs that they would cause <br />traffic congestion. She then said that she would like to have the residents on Greenwood, <br />Hillview and Long Lake Road come to the work session to discuss this parking issue. <br />The Park Commission representative commented that residents that live on Hillview felt that <br />existing parking is adequate. The traffic issues are when the first teams are leaving and the next <br />teams are coming and that is about 30 nights per summer. <br />. Clerk Administrator Ericson noted he attended the North Metro Mayor's Association meeting <br />and received updates from other metro counties. <br />Clerk Administrator Ericson noted that the Chamber is interested in leasing out the office they <br />had previously leased, and they are exploring the option of picking up the second office space as <br />well. <br />Clerk Administrator Ericson said that he met with Springsted for three hours to discuss the HAY <br />points for the positions that the City has to arrive at an appropriate wage. He did note that the <br />salary being advertised for the public works salary is commensurate with other communities in <br />the study area. Staff plans to ask reauthorization to advertise for this position. <br />Clerk Administrator Ericson asked Council whether they would like to review the budget before <br />the truth-in-taxation hearing. Council concurred. <br />Clerk Administrator Ericson reviewed the items set for the work session. Council agreed to <br />begin at 6:00 p.m. <br />1. Quarterly Report for Police Department <br />Chief Sommer indicated that they are in the middle of an investigation into the Homicides on <br />Sunnyside Avenue. He then offered to answer questions on the quarterly report. <br />• Mayor Marty thanked the Chief and other officers for all their efforts on behalf of the City. <br />
