i
1
MEMO TO: Public Works/Community Development Director
FROM: Building lnspccLor
DATE: August 19, 1982
SUBJECT: RAMSEY COUNTY SUBDIVISION/LAND DIVISION PROCEDURES
I have followed up my August 12th visit at Ramsey County with
land records and taxation department officials calier this week.
During my visit on the 12th one of the department officials
was not present and I was unable to obtain his additional direc-
tion. Now that f have completed discussion with this other
official in the land descriptions section, I would recommend
the City take action by the use of a resolution to stop any
further filing of subdivisions/land divisions without City
approval.
In discussion with this official with regard to the City's sub-
division regulations as well as the present moritorium, it became
more clear that the easiest way to stop divisions in not only
wetland areas or any other in the City, would be to establish a
resolution stating that all subdivisions/land divisions require
City approval before filing with the County. Attached is a
proposed resolution that the City Council could use to address
and notify Ramsey County officials of the City's requirements.
After drafting a resolution, .I discussed its con Lents with both
the City Attorney and the Ramsey County official to assure that
proper direction had been taken. In discussion with City Attorney
Meyers, he eluded that he would discuss the existing division filed
without City approval further with the City Council during his
report at the next regular Council mccLing.
Should you have any questions regarding this matter, feel free to
contact me at my office.
Thank you.
SOAR/bc
Attachment
