-3 -
FIRE DEPARTMENT:
Based on a telephone conversation with Pat Allen, only certain
questions are being responded to by the Fire Department due to
our contractual relationship and their not being a City Depart-
ment. The responses shown are as a result of an interview with
Deputy Chief Wes Cox on August 19, 1982.
1. Status of Current Services
A. Deputy Chief Cox indicated that the Spring Lake Park -
Blaine - Mounds View Fire Department presently has a
full complement of firemen and all of its equipment
and buildings are up-to-date. This statement was
made on the basis of what the present needs are of
the area served by the Fire Department.
B. The Fire Department is presently at. capacity.
3. Attached is a copy of the Fire Department's 1981 report
which on page 32 lists the total number of fire calls in
Mounds View by month and type. Deputy Chief Cox indicated
that the percentage of type of call as it relates to the
total number of calls would provide for the percentage
distribution of service resources.
9. Deputy Chief Cox indicated that the present level of
manpower and equipment could easily meet the service needs
of any additional single-family or townhouse development
in Mounds View. In the case of multi -family, commercial
or industrial, the present level of manpower and equipment
might need to be increased depending upon the specific
type of use, size and height of building, and level of
internal fire protection. As specific direction could not
be given in response to these variables Depty Chief Cox
was unable to give any specific response to the question.
DFP/pf
`erg"
