MEMO TO: City Council
FROM: Bruce K. Anderson, Dir44,
Parks, Recreation and
DATE: January 19, 1983
SUBJECT: 1983 JOINT P0191iRS r•OrrrnrnT
It was noted during the preparation of the 1983 Diseased Tree
Removal Contract that the Addendum to the New Brighton -Mounds View
Forestry Joint Powers Agreement currently refers to 1982 only.
In order to eliminate the need for bringing the Joint Powers Agree-
ment back to the respective City Councils on a yearly basis, we
have rewritten the Addendum to include the statement that "This
Addendum will apply for as long as the Forestry Joint Powers
Agreement is in effect."
As staff indicated in the fourth quarter staff report, the Joint
Powers Agreement has proven to be very successful, operational,
and cost saving. We feel that the continuation of the combined
tree removal contract will also be beneficial to both cities to
reduce costs and improve services.
In conclusion, staff's recommendation is to adopt the revised
Addendum to the Forestry Joint Powers Agreement with the City of
New Brighton, combining the contracting of tree removal services.
Should you have any questions or desire to review the entire
Joint Powers Agreement once again, feel free to contact staff
directly at Extension No. 41.
BKA/pf
