MEMO TO: Mayor Duane McCarty 1 �" <br />FROM: Clerk-Administratq'r`: <br />DATE: November 1, 1983 l <br />SUBJECT: DRAFT POLICE cuirF FIRST YEAR GOALS <br />In earlier discussions, you requested that I prepare a list of <br />goals for the first year of employment for the City's new Police <br />Chief. fur use in discussions with the City Council as part of: the <br />hiring process. Attached to this memo please find a list of nine <br />first year goals for the Police Chief which I personally feel <br />reflects some of the greater needs for the department. After you <br />have reviewed this draft list of goals, I would ask that you advise <br />me as to whether or not you wish for this to be given to the City <br />Council for inclusion in discussions during your Special Meeting <br />on Thursday evening. <br />I would further ask that you note that most of these items reflect <br />major areas of accountability included in the position description <br />under the City's Salary Administration and Performance Review <br />Program, a copy of which is attached. Thus, these goals would be <br />part of any performance.review I would perform on a Police Chief <br />during his probationary period in the same manner these position <br />descriptions are used in evaluating the performance of any of the <br />City's employees on an annual basis. <br />Your advice as to what you wish to have done with these draft goals <br />would be appreciated. <br />DFP/pf <br />Attachments <br />
